The stages of coloring

Applying the color on Photoshop as on most drawing software goes through several simple steps once you have already mastered the interface of the software as well as the use of layers.

Step 1: solid areas

This is to put a so-called flat color which allows you to have a basic overview of the different colors of the drawing without any effect.

The application of solid colors can be done in several ways.

You can do as in this demo by directly coloring the elements of your image using the pen tool.

You can also skip the selection process by selecting the different elements with the selection tool of your choice and then using the paint bucket tool to apply the desired colors.

Step 2: Shadows

the shadow in your drawing is actually either the absence of light or the intersection of light. Putting a shadow on an image will allow you to add relief to it.

To do this, you will create  a new layer and to take shades darker than those of the colors used on your flat tints.

Once done, you will apply either directly to the drawing as in the demo, or use a selection tool which will allow you to select the areas to darken then apply the color using the paint bucket tool.

It should be noted that all this is done according to the layout or the light source on the drawing.
